Mid Century Portrait of a Woman in Blue, Oil on Canvas

A young Doris Day look-a-like sits for a portrait, possibly by a friend just learning to paint. Not bad for beginner, the painter nicely focused on those baby blues and the luster of the pearls, even if other details (dress and lips, etc) are a bit slap dash. I kind of like that juxtaposition, however. Reminiscent of an era where people had time to take up hobbies like oil paint. Her eyes really seek you out to let you know this is her best dress and she just had her hair done and later she hopes to meet the gang at the drive-in movie. If so, I hope the painter went with her.

Oil paint on canvas, not wired for hanging. In good vintage condition with what is either a chip or small splotch of white paint on the left bottom edge (you can see it in one of the photos - really minor but wanted to mention it).
