A Cat and Dog Life, Antique Chatterbox pen and ink Illustration

Behold: a civilized discussion between arch rivals. "A Cat and Dog Life," from a 19th- or early 20th-century Chatterbox illustration, details a dispute from a cat's point of view (always the correct and final POV, as we all know). A dish of milk has been purloined, a fracas ensues. Cat is incensed, Dog is gentlemanly enough to patch things up. Harmony reigns!

In a fine antique wood frame with gilt interior. The frame finish is chipping a bit on the sides but not obvious from the front. Overall, in very good antique condition. Measures 9.75" wide and 11.5" tall.

If you are a Chatterbox fan, I've included a photo of the verso which features a story about "Chaucer's Birds and Flowers" and "the Sybil of St. Pierre." I tried to date it using those stories but I had no luck. Maybe you'll do better than me.
